“Fureigh shreds melodically.”
— Rolling Stone
Fureigh (they/them) “shreds melodically,” says Rolling Stone, but they also have a not-so-secret tender side. They're currently working on a debut solo album about hopeful love, collective grief, and staying alive even when it hurts.
After five years in the critically acclaimed Brooklyn-based queer rock band the Shondes (“the next Sleater-Kinney?” –VH1), Fureigh co-founded the Homobiles, the Bay Area’s first queer punk supergroup, with the legendary Lynnee Breedlove (ex-Tribe 8). The Homobiles have since been featured at the New York Live Arts Festival (curated by Mx. Justin Vivian Bond), opened for queercore legends Pansy Division and Team Dresch, and been featured in the documentary "Spacecars and Babes.” The anti-fascist music video for their song “Homo Safe” has screened at film festivals around the world.
Fureigh has improvised on the street with Margaret Cho, created multiinstrumental soundscapes for multiple San Francisco Arts Council-backed productions, and played guitar in the trans superhero rock opera “The Red Shades.”
They’re now also the guitarist for Middle-Aged Queers, whose live shows Razorcake compared to “mainlining joy,” voted “Best Live Band” for five consecutive years by the Bay Area Reporter.
